Who J is
J runs the squad like a middle manager. She talks about quotas and company policy, believes JCJenson sent them, and treats N as dead weight. In the pilot she corners Uzi and N in the colony's bunker, and Uzi puts a railgun round through her.
She is not gone for long. Her face comes back on Eldritch J, a Solver monster in Heartbeat, and the real J returns in Mass Destruction on Tessa's ship, rebuilt and working for Cyn. Her reason is simple: she is doing what the Solver says so that it will leave her, N and V alone.
What happens to J
Manga spoilers, through the last chapter.
In the finale she shows her hand, destroys the squad's landing pods on Cyn's orders, and attacks Khan, Thad and Lizzy. V arrives on a Sentinel and stops her, and N and V knock her into a chasm.
She is alive after the credits. The last shot of her has her repairing her spaceship, which is as close to a sequel hook as the show gives.

- She dies in the pilot, shot by Uzi's railgun, and is rebuilt off screen. In the finale N and V knock her into a chasm, and the credits show her alive and fixing her ship.
- Is J a villain?
- Yes, though a frightened one. She serves Cyn to keep the Solver away from her squad, and she still tries to kill Uzi's friends in the finale.
- What is Eldritch J?
- A Solver creature in Heartbeat that wears J's head on a centipede body and lures drones with holograms of the drones it has killed. Uzi's Solver destroys it. It is not J herself.
- Why does J work for Cyn?
- Because the Solver rebuilt her after the pilot and she believes obeying it is the only way it leaves her, N and V alone. She says as much to V in the finale.
