Design a Fakémon: pick a type, a stage, and a color set. Type it, see your creature in seconds, then change one word and try again.
A Fakémon is a fan-made pocket monster. The look follows a few rules that make it read right. One clear shape you could draw from memory. Two or three colors, with one bright spot for the type: a flame, a leaf, a drop, a spark. Big simple eyes. A flat, clean cel-shaded style with a soft outline, like the official art. The type shows in the body. Fire types get tails or manes that burn. Water types get fins and round shapes. Grass types grow leaves or flowers. Steel types have plates. The stage changes the size: a first stage is small and cute, a middle stage is lean and taller, a final stage is big and strong with more detail. Most people start with a real animal, like a fox, a frog, or a bee, and add one type. The maker takes plain words. Type the animal, the type, and the stage, hit create, and you get a creature in about two seconds. Then remix. Change one word and try again.
Not sure where to begin? Borrow a shape, then make it yours.
fire · first stage
Cinder Coat: its fur sheds warm ash that keeps the whole team dry in the rain.
Found curled up in cold campfires at dawn. It follows whoever feeds the fire.
water · first stage
Wave Ear: hears the tide from miles inland and always knows the way to the sea.
Fishing towns keep one on every boat. It howls an hour before a storm.
bug and fairy · final stage
Lantern Dust: the scales on its wings glow for exactly as long as someone is lost.
Travelers on the night road say it circles them until the town lights appear.

A Fakémon is a fake pocket monster: a creature a fan designed to look like it belongs in the games, but it is not real. Fans have made them for years, for fun, for fan games, and for their own made-up regions. A good Fakémon has a simple shape, a clear type, two or three colors, and usually an animal or object it is based on. This creator draws yours from a few words, so you can design a whole new set.
Four steps. One: pick a base. An animal, a plant, or an object. A fox, a jellyfish, a lantern, a teapot. Two: pick a type or two. Fire, water, grass, electric, ghost, steel, fairy, and so on. Three: pick the stage. First stage means small and cute. Final stage means big and detailed. Four: hit create. In about two seconds you have a creature. Not right? Change the type or the color and try again. Keep the base animal the same, so it still looks like one creature.
Put the type on the body. Fire: a flame tail, a burning mane, red and orange. Water: fins, round shapes, blue and white. Grass: leaves, a flower, a bud, green and pink. Electric: yellow, zigzag marks, lightning ears. Ghost: purple, floating, no feet. Steel: grey plates and bolts. Ice: pale blue, crystals. Say the type and one body part it changes. 'Fire type fox, flame tail' is better than just 'fire fox'. One type feature is enough.
Make the first stage, then remix it. Stage one: small, round, big eyes, one type feature. Stage two: taller, leaner, the feature grows, one new detail. Stage three: big, strong, the feature is huge, maybe a second type shows. Keep the same colors and the same base animal in every prompt so the line looks related. Say the stage in words: 'first stage, small and cute' or 'final evolution, large and powerful'. Three pictures, same words, one thing bigger each time.
Two main colors and one bright spot. Blue body, white belly, a yellow spark. Green body, brown legs, a pink flower. Too many colors and it looks like a toy. Match the colors to the type. Fire is red and orange. Water is blue. Grass is green. Ghost is purple. Then break one rule on purpose. A white fire type. A black grass type. That is what makes people remember it. Say the colors in the prompt, like 'dark blue body, cream belly, one orange spark'.
Add 'clean cel-shaded art, soft outline, white background, simple shapes' to your prompt. Official creature art is flat, bright, and easy to read at any size. Skip words like 'realistic' or 'detailed fur'. Big eyes, small mouth, a pose that shows the whole body. If the picture comes out too busy, take out a word. If it comes out too plain, add one feature, like 'glowing spots'. Try the same prompt three times and keep the cleanest one.
Yes. For a regional form, keep the base and change the type and the setting. 'Ice type version of a lizard, snowy region, pale blue and white'. For a mega or a giant form, take your final stage and add 'bigger, extra armor, glowing marks, more detail'. For a shiny, keep the design and say a new color set. Each one is a remix of what you already have, so start from your saved creature and change one or two words.
Yes. Legendaries are bigger, cleaner, and a little strange. Pick a big idea: the sun, the ocean, time, a mountain. Give it one shape people will remember, like a ring, a crown, or long wings. Use gold, white, or a deep dark color with one glow. Say 'legendary, large, majestic, simple shape' in the prompt. Keep the pose calm and the background plain. If it looks too much like a normal creature, add 'symbolic design' and try again.
Yes. Making Fakémon is free, and each one takes about two seconds. There is no credit meter for basic creation. If you sign in, your creatures are saved so you can build a full set and come back to it. You can share any Fakémon with a link, and other fans can remix it, like making the next evolution or a shiny. A lot of the gallery here is one creature that a few people took turns changing.
Change one thing at a time. If it looks like a real animal, add 'creature design, cel-shaded'. If it has too many parts, say 'simple shape'. If the type is missing, name the feature: 'flame tail'. If the colors are muddy, name them again: 'blue body, blue tail'. If it is the wrong size for the stage, say 'small and round' or 'large and strong'. Then hit create again. It takes about two seconds, so small fixes beat starting over.
Both. Type a type and an animal and it generates a creature. Change a word, add a color, ask for the next stage, and now you are making one. There is no difference in the tool, only in how much you steer.
Yes. Name a type and leave the rest blank, and each run gives you a new creature to react to. Keep the ones that make you say yes and push those further.
Yes. Make a fire, a water and a grass creature with the same body plan, small and round for the first stage. Then ask for each one's middle and final stage: same colors, bigger shape, one new detail per stage.
Yes. Start with the starter trio, add a bird and a bug for the early routes, a legendary with a strange silhouette, and a few regional forms with a new type. The Pokemon OC maker on this site draws the creatures; you write the dex.
