Make Your Sonic OC Base

A Sonic OC base is a clean starting drawing for your own speedster character. It is full body, front view, flat colour, with little or no shading, on a plain background. You use it as a guide: draw over it, colour it, or add your own quills, clothes and marks. A good base saves you the hard part, getting the body shape right, so you can spend your time on what makes your character yours.

Four steps. One, pick a species. Hedgehog, fox, echidna, bat, cat, or your own. Two, type your colours. Use your own, like teal and violet, not the ones from the games. Three, add simple gear, like sneakers, gloves or boots, and say flat colour, front view, plain background. Four, press make. You get a full-body base in seconds. If the pose is off, change one word and make it again.

A hedgehog gives you big back quills, the most classic shape. A fox gives you a bushy tail, or two. An echidna gives you long dreadlock quills and a strong build. A bat gives you wings and big ears. A cat gives you a slim shape and a long tail. A rabbit gives you long ears. Pick the shape that fits your character's job: fast, strong, flying or sneaky. Then make it yours with colours no one else uses.
