From weakest to strongest: grade 4, grade 3, semi-grade 2, grade 2, semi-grade 1, grade 1, special grade 1 and special grade. Curses, cursed tools and cursed objects are graded on the same scale.
In 2018 there were four: Satoru Gojo, Yuki Tsukumo, Yuta Okkotsu and Suguru Geto, who had turned against the other sorcerers. Sukuna is special grade too, as a curse and in each of his fingers.
Megumi is grade 2. Nobara is grade 3. Maki was kept at grade 4 by her clan. Nanami and Todo are grade 1. Gojo and Yuta are special grade. Yuji starts with no grade at all.
A sorcerer of a higher grade recommends them. For grade 1 it takes two grade 1 recommendations, missions alongside a grade 1, a semi-grade 1 rank, and then a grade 1 curse beaten alone. Teachers cannot recommend their own students.
Pick the grade that makes their story harder. A grade 4 who is secretly strong. A grade 1 who is tired of it. Roll one above, and the reason comes with it.
Every JJK grade, weakest to strongest
Who holds each one, and the weapon a normal person would need against a curse that strong.
- Grade 4 — the lowest grade, where most students start. Maki Zenin, held back by her clan. a wooden bat is enough.
- Grade 3 — an average grade, most of all for students. Nobara Kugisaki, Mai Zenin. a handgun and you can rest easy.
- Semi-grade 2 — a step between grade 3 and grade 2. Panda. past a handgun, short of a shotgun.
- Grade 2 — above average; a student this grade can go on missions alone. Megumi Fushiguro, Takuma Ino. a close call with a shotgun.
- Semi-grade 1 — put forward by two grade 1 sorcerers, test missions passed. Toge Inumaki, Noritoshi Kamo, Utahime Iori. a curse this grade can use a technique.
- Grade 1 — the top of the normal ladder. Kento Nanami, Mei Mei, Aoi Todo, Atsuya Kusakabe. even a tank might not be enough.
- Special grade 1 — sorcerers outside Jujutsu High counted as grade 1, like the Zenin clan's elite: Naobito and Naoya Zenin. grade 1 strength, no school badge.
- Special grade — not a step on the ladder: for the few who could wipe out a country. In 2018 there were four: Satoru Gojo, Suguru Geto, Yuki Tsukumo, Yuta Okkotsu. cluster bombs might work.

Every sorcerer and every curse in Jujutsu Kaisen has a grade, from grade 4, the weakest, up to special grade. A sorcerer is sent after curses of their own grade. The show sizes curses by the weapon a normal person would need: a wooden bat for grade 4, a handgun for grade 3, a shotgun and a close call for grade 2, and for grade 1, even a tank might not be enough.
Students usually start at grade 4. To reach grade 1, two grade 1 sorcerers put your name forward, a grade 1 goes on missions with you, and then you take on a grade 1 curse alone. Special grade is not a step on that ladder. It is for the few who could wipe out a country on their own.
