Who Yuta is
Yuta is the hero of Jujutsu Kaisen 0. As a child he promised Rika Orimoto they would marry; when she died he cursed her, without meaning to, into the strongest vengeful spirit anyone had seen. Gojo took him in. Rika was the reason he was a special grade before he knew what a sorcerer was.
He frees Rika at the end of the prequel, and what stays is her cursed energy in him and his own technique, Copy: any technique he has touched, he can use. He carries a katana and more cursed energy than anyone but Gojo.
In the main story he returns as the students' strongest, the one Gojo said could pass him.
What happens to Yuta
Manga spoilers, through the last chapter.
He fights in the Culling Game, then Sukuna in Shinjuku, and loses badly. Kenjaku's technique, which he copied, lets him move into Gojo's dead body to fight again; the body gives out after one fight. Yuta is back in his own body and alive at the end of the manga.
